Virtual Town Hall and COVID-19 Update
Thursday’s Virtual Town Hall
On Thursday, April 30, at 5:30 p.m., I am hosting a virtual Town Hall from my office at City Hall. I will present a COVID-19 update as it relates to Miami Beach, followed by a live Q&A session where I will answer your questions. Please see the flyer below for information on how you can participate via Zoom or call-in number.
Please feel free to send any questions in advance to me at StevenMeiner@miamibeachfl.gov or my aide Amadeus Huff at AmadeusHuff@miamibeachfl.gov.
Drive-Through Food Distribution
As this is a very challenging financial time for many, the City has partnered with Feeding South Florida, South Florida Seniors in Action, and Farm Share to organize food distributions on Miami Beach, including fruits and vegetables. Due to high demand, an additional drive-through site is opening in North Beach at 7100 Collins Avenue from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Unemployment and Business Assistance
My office is receiving many inquiries regarding unemployment assistance and small business loans. The City of Miami Beach has resource agents available to answer your questions. Simply email ResourceCenter@miamibeachfl.gov with your inquiry. For example, upon request, the City will mail you an unemployment application along with a prepaid return envelope.

Expansion of COVID-19 Testing
Following the lead of medical experts, I am a firm believer that credible data best guides effective public policy. For that reason, I have been consistent in my message advocating for more COVID-19 testing on Miami Beach. Last month, a private provider began offering testing at the parking lot on Collins Avenue and 46th Street. The provider has administered approximately 4,500 tests and has expanded its services to seniors by providing at-home testing with the assistance of the Miami Beach Fire Department. Seniors should call 305-604-CITY (2489) for an at-home appointment. Significantly, all of this testing has been made available with no out-of-pocket cost.
I continue to push to expand our City’s COVID-19 and antibody testing capacities. Miami Beach is proactively exploring opportunities to make reliable, FDA-approved antibody testing available for anyone who wants to be tested. Credible antibody testing data will be crucial to help our economy fully reopen and stay open.
I'd like to hear from you if you have any concerns or suggestions on our measures taken in response to COVID-19. Please reach out to me any time - my cell phone is 786-810-8728 and my direct City email is StevenMeiner@MiamiBeachFL.gov. Alternatively, you can contact my aide Amadeus Huff at 786-697-7763 or by email at AmadeusHuff@MiamiBeachFL.gov.
Thanks,
Steve
