First 90 Days in Office
Vision for 2020
Exactly three months ago, I fulfilled an American dream as I officially became a City of Miami Beach Commissioner. Since that time, I have remained focused on delivering on my campaign platform to improve our daily quality of life and implement good governance measures.
In an interview with Miami Today, I discussed some of my priorities for Miami Beach in 2020:
- Increase public safety and police visibility
- Increase government transparency and good governance
- Streamline the permitting process
- Better street lighting
- Address the homelessness issue
- Implement a tailored approach to road raising
- Improve execution and oversight over our resiliency efforts
Spring Break 2020
Two weeks ago, the City of Miami Beach Commission voted to cut back alcohol sales from 5:00 am to 3:00 am for 12 days during March’s Spring Break. This remains a controversial topic, and will be further discussed and voted on for final approval at tonight’s Commission meeting on Wednesday, February 26 at 5:00 pm.
If passed, the ordinance would impact alcohol sales between 5th and 15th streets on Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, Washington Avenue and Española Way.
