Details matter. Good legislation makes a difference. Accountability matters. You may have noticed that my campaign mailings and newsletter emails contain a lot of significant details. I don’t just talk about public safety, I inform you of my legislative record and vision for how to reduce crime; I don’t just discuss limiting overdevelopment, I detail my proposed legislation to accomplish this; it’s not just talking about our traffic problems, I am outlining innovative solutions; and good governance and the highest of ethics are not just talking points, I practice it through my legislation and actions.
Reducing Crime
In endorsing me the Miami Herald recognized my impressive legislative record saying I would bring a “tougher edge” to improve our residents’ quality of life. SOBESafe, a leading volunteer organization focused on reducing crime, is endorsing me citing “Meiner’s relentless, successful record of improving the prosecution of misdemeanors through Police, prosecutorial, and judicial innovations demonstrates his ability to conceive of and implement important but complex initiatives.”

Limiting Overdevelopment ... Clevelander
As your Mayor, I would continue pursuing my current proposed legislation that would hinder the ability of the Clevelander and other bad development ideas from becoming reality. I have proposed legislation that would require 6/7 Commission approval for building size increases (FAR) instead of the current 5/7 vote. I am also one of the sponsors of legislation to reduce building height within one mile of Ocean Drive that would restrict the Clevelander’s latest proposal, what I refer to as publicity stunt part 2. Innovative Traffic Solutions
I am working on several key innovative initiatives to mitigate traffic, such as the hiring of traffic control officers to facilitate smooth traffic flow and keep intersections clear from drivers blocking the box, implementing a traffic management software system, enforcing legal measures against deliberate traffic obstruction, to name just a few. New Traffic Workshop: Monday October 30
At my initiative, our Commission will meet this Monday, October 30th starting at 3pm to tackle our city’s traffic troubles head on. This first of its kind Workshop will involve State, County, Federal and Miami Beach representatives to brainstorm and implement creative solutions to mitigate congestion.
